Happy half birthday to my little luv! Lawson, I can’t believe you are six months old. Everyone says to enjoy each moment because kids grow up so fast. They are absolutely right. In six short months, you’ve grown into such a fun, adorable, happy, sweet baby.

Those first six weeks were hard. The hardest of my life. And then we started to figure each other out a little more. You showed us your first smiles and we were smitten.

I never knew I could love anyone like I love you. I am grateful I have the opportunity to spend my days hanging out together. You change so much, so quickly that I don’t want to miss a moment. We love you more each day.

When friends ask how we’re doing, my answer is almost always “fabulous.” I love being your mama. I was never one of those women that knew for certain she wanted to have children. And now I cannot imagine anything better. Yes, I’m completely taken with you.

I would do anything to protect you. When you cry, I try everything I can to stop your tears. There will be plenty of moments I’m not able to protect you from – being bullied, your first heartbreak. But now I can hold you in my arms and sing our special “song” to calm you (and you don’t make fun of my singing like everyone else).

You love to sit up on your own and play with your blocks. You are so steady that I hardly worry about you falling over anymore. You also love to stand and took your first “steps” while your daddy held you up just the other day. Rolling over isn’t so much your style. It happens occasionally when I’m not looking, but you spend most of your time sitting up.

Now that it’s cool outside, we go for a run most mornings and a walk together as a family when daddy gets home from work. I look forward to our family walk every afternoon.

Your smiles and giggles melt our hearts on the daily. Sure you get cranky at the end of the day, but mostly you are full of smiles and laughs. And you love to talk. I think you get that from me. (I think you also get your under eye dark circles from me…sorry about that one.) You’re fascinated with your hands and toes. And you’re always moving those legs…kick, kick, kicking all day long.

You are a great traveler and have already been to five states visiting family and friends (Pennsylvania, Maryland, Minnesota, North Carolina & Colorado). Maybe because of all the traveling, you’ve decided you don’t want to nap in your crib anymore. You’d much rather fall asleep in my arms or by my side. I can’t say I blame you. Our naps together are some of my favorite moments.

Lawson, I am so proud and happy to be your mama. I love you like crazy and I can’t wait to spend the next six months watching you grow!
