Holiday Books for Kids

2020 Holiday Books for Kids

It’s gift guide week! I never thought I’d be publishing gift guides in October, but I took a poll on Instagram and the majority of you said you’re already shopping for the holidays. I am too! With extending shipping times and all the uncertainty of 2020, it seems like many of us want to get an earlier start this year.

One of my favorite holiday traditions is pulling out all of our Christmas and holiday books at the beginning of December. This year we may break them out earlier. We have a lot that we want to read!

Another tradition is giving the kids a trio of gifts on December 1st. This year they are getting holiday pajamas, a book and a countdown to Christmas calendar.

Books we personally own and love are marked with an asterisk. I’ve included links to Amazon, but if you’re able to shop at your local bookstore please do. You can find the 2019 gift guide for holiday books for kids here.

2020 Holiday Gift Guide – Holiday Books for Kids

ONE // Walking in a Winter Wonderland: This was a late addition to our 2019 library, but one that we all loved. You can’t help but sing along when you’re reading it!

TWO // Tough Cookie: A Christmas Story: When a cookie discovers he does NOT taste delicious, he has to find a new identity in this clever picture book twist on a holiday classic.

THREE // Madeline’s Christmas: This classic is over 30 years old. Madeline embarks on a Christmas journey with the help of a magical merchant.

FOUR // You’re My Little Christmas Wish: This board book is perfect to get into the Christmas spirit with your little ones.

FIVE // Red & Lulu*: Red & Lulu was our favorite holiday book of 2019. It’s the story of two birds as the tree they live in becomes the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center.

SIX // A Unicorn Named Sparkle’s First Christmas: It’s Sparkle’s first Christmas and Lucy is showing him how to celebrate. In pure Sparkle fashion, nothing goes as planned, but Lucy ends up learning that love― not presents― is what Christmas is all about.

SEVEN // Construction Site on Christmas Night*: Lawson LOVES all things Construction Site, including this story about construction vehicles building a fire station in the holiday season.

EIGHT // The Snowy Day*: We’re all big fans of both the book and movie version of The Snowy Day. It’s a short and sweet story of a wintery day full of snow, fun and friends.

NINE // Bears Stays Up for Christmas*: One of my favorite books as we get closer to Christmas night. What little kid doesn’t entertain the idea of staying up to spot santa??!

TEN // The Great Spruce: A boy’s favorite tree is taken for the city’s holiday celebration. Heartbroken at the idea of losing his tree, he comes up with a plan to save it.

ELEVEN // Maple & Willow’s Christmas Tree*: After a snowy expedition to pick out the perfect tree, it’s time for Maple and Willow to decorate. But whenever Maple gets near the tree, she starts sniffling and sneezing. How will they find a way to make this the best Christmas? Sybil is a big fan of Maple & Willow and will be getting this book on December 1st!

TWELVE // Mouse’s Night Before Christmas*: It’s Christmas Eve, and everyone is fast asleep except for a lonely mouse that lives in the grandfather clock. When Santa arrives, lost in a blizzard and called by Mouse’s wish, it’s Mouse who is there to show Santa the way. Together they embark on a magical sleigh ride, delivering presents all around town.

THIRTEEN // Little Red Sleigh: In this new release, The Little Red Sleigh has one big dream―to one day become Santa’s big red sleigh! But all her life, she’s been told she’s too small, she’s too young, she can’t fly, and she certainly can’t meet Santa. Well, this Christmas, with the help of some friends, she’s determined to do the impossible.

FOURTEEN // Dasher*: Dasher is an adventurous young reindeer with a wish in her heart. She spends her days with her family under the hot sun in a traveling circus, but she longs for a different life — one where there is snow beneath her hooves and the North Star above her head.

FIFTEEN // A Christmas Advent Story: Youngsters can follow the story of a little girl, boy, and their dog in this advent countdown. Along the way they’ll find 25 flaps, each introducing a new word.

I truly enjoy putting these gift guides to share with you all. I earn a small commission on purchases you make through my blog links. The price is the same for you either way. It works whether you buy what I linked to or other things. It makes my heart swell every single time I see a purchase has been made (no, I can’t tell who purchased, only that a purchase was made from a link). Thank you for your support!
