Weekend Roundup

Supermoon

Did you see the supermoon on Sunday night? My dad captured this photo of the supermoon rise that’s absolutely gorgeous. We got out the telescope and showed Lawson. He knows the moon from reading about it in a bunch of his books. Now whenever we see a moon in a book, he points out the window.

This week was a bit of a doozy for me. I’m working on a blog post about accepting my post-baby body and it hit me that I really haven’t accepted it yet. On a positive note, I had an ultrasound to check on my fibroid yesterday and it’s shrunk from 18cm to 11cm (about the size of a softball). I’ve got some work to do to connect my abs. And it’s frustrating not being able to fit into many of my clothes. One day at a time…

Last night Sybil and I met a friend for a little party at urbAna. Gosh, it’s hard not to walk out with one of everything! If you’re local to Phoenix and looking for unique gifts, definitely check them out. I picked up the cutest cup for Sybil and a cocktail mixer for me. I’ll be showing them off on Instagram stories later today.

It finally feels like fall here. I’m excited to cozy up with my loved ones this weekend. Have a wonderful one friends!

SHOPPING

Is your inbox flooded with pre-black friday sales? I’m planning on putting together a list of things that I want to get as gifts in the hopes I’m not distracted and blow my budget. One item on my wish list is a green sweater. It isn’t a color I wear a lot, but I recently realized I’m drawn to red and green in the winter. I’ve got my eye on the holly or tippi from J. Crew. Rumor has it their black friday sale will be 40% off!

READING

While reading this Cupcakes & Cashmere post from earlier this week, I came across Food52’s holiday swap. They describe it as a Secret Santa for food lovers. You sign up and get matched with another person. You have two weeks to send them a package. Then you sit back and wait for your package of goodies to arrive. It seems like a great way to spread holiday cheer!

RESEARCHING

For my birthday, Jim gifted me an Ancestry DNA test. While it was fun to get the DNA results, the best part has been building out our family trees. It’s amazing how quickly you can find relatives from several generations ago. My favorite is looking at census data from the early 1900’s. It’s all handwritten and fascinating to read the occupations.
