Weekend Roundup: No. 170

Weekend at Alfred Tea

How was your week?? We had a busy one. Lawson turned 2 1/2 on Monday and Sybil had her 12 month pediatrician appointment (a month and a half late). We said goodbye to my mom on Tuesday morning and spent the next 36 hours by ourselves until my girlfriend arrived on Wednesday night.

It seems as though the bad news keeps coming. The wildfires in Northern California are devastating. Napa is one of my happy places. The stories and photos are heartbreaking.

Twice this week Lawson has decided he wanted to use the toilet. I am completely unprepared for this phase of parenthood. Does he sit or stand to pee? When I sat him on the toilet, I was truly hoping he wouldn’t actually pee. I’m pretty sure it would have gone in my face! Needless to say, this book is on its way to me.

As for this weekend, I’m finally getting a manicure and pedicure. It’s been 3 months since my last one. I’m really, really looking forward to it. If I’m lucky, we’ll have time to stop at Alfred’s Tea for my favorite iced tea. On Sunday Jim finally gets home after his 10-day trip. We’re pretty excited to see him!

Whatever your plans this weekend, I hope you have a great one friends!

HIGH POINT:

Forgive me for sounding like a broken record (and 80 years old), but my love of bran muffins continues. And after 4 hours of sleep one night this week (see low point), I needed something to look forward to in the morning and my bran muffin didn’t disappoint.

LOW POINT:

Sybil has gotten 5 teeth, including 3 molars, in the past 6 weeks. She has 3 more to go until we get a break. They’ve turned my sweet little lady into a baby possessed. On Wednesday night she was up for 3 hours!

FIND OF THE WEEK:

My friend has this dress in grey. Normally I shy away from anything too tight post-babies, but I tried it on and actually liked it. The ruching at your stomach is very forgiving. It is less than $60, comes in 6 colors and a tank version too.

READ OF THE WEEK:

These steps seem so simple: 5 ways to actually connect with your partner (when you have no time). If you haven’t read the article I shared last week about emotional labor, make sure you check it out. I’ve been thinking and talking about it all week.
