Weekend Roundup: No. 213

Winter Weekend

It’s been a couple of weeks since my last weekend roundup. I miss these little updates, but was too tired last week to pull it together. Sorry!

We’ve gotten snow recently, which has made for some fun winter weekend time outside. It’s all in the gear. As long as I’m warm and dry, it’s fun!

Two weeks ago, Lawson and I looked out the front window to see my brother walking up to our front door. He was in Denver for work and surprised us with a weekend visit! It was perfect timing since Jim was leaving that evening for a stop at his sister’s house to meet our new niece and celebrate his nephew’s 2nd birthday before continuing on to London for work.

Before Jim’s trip, I made a manicure and pedicure appointment for the day after he got home. I knew I would need some time to myself and it gave me something to look forward to during the week. It was my first manicure and pedicure in six months. It felt every bit as wonderful as it sounds.

On Monday I started another mini round of Whole30. I’m aiming for two weeks and then I’ll go from there. After too many indulgent meals, I was in need of a refresh. I also started BBG on Monday. I could barely walk for days.

I have to give myself a pat on the back for limiting my spending this month. I hadn’t bought anything for Lawson, Sybil or me until yesterday. I’ve been wearing this cashmere crew sweater in grey 3x a week since I got it at Christmas. Yesterday I used some Christmas money (thanks Bonnie!) and ordered it in black since it’s been such a staple this winter.

HIGH POINT:

My iPhone screen time has been embarrassingly out of control. In an effort to limit it, I deleted the Instagram app last weekend. It worked so well that I delete it each day. I can’t completely cut myself off so I add it back at night for 15-30 minutes. It’s the perfect amount of time for me to post, scroll and relax.

LOW POINT:

Sybil has started resisting wearing clothes or sitting in her carseat, which makes any outing full of additional stress. And when I say resisting, she full on screams and thrashes as you try to put on her pants.

FIND OF THE WEEK:

I can’t remember if I’ve already mentioned it as a prior find of the week, but this jerk chicken recipe is a recent Whole30 favorite. It’s easy to prepare and throw in the oven. Sheet pan recipes are my go to with little ones nipping at your heels during that hour before dinner. Side note: I really need to track what I include as the find of the week!
