Weekend Roundup: No. 215

Weekend

I’m keeping it short and sweet this week because I haven’t done anything since last Friday. Literally, I’ve been out of the house four times in over a week. We’ve been hit hard with a nasty cold (maybe influenza).

Last Friday afternoon Sybil spiked a high fever. We spent the next few hours at urgent care having a Friday family movie night while Sybil was tested for a UTI and other bacterial infections were ruled out.

We had planned to fly to Arizona the following morning, but Sybil and I were too sick to go. So we dropped Lawson and Jim off at the airport for a boys weekend. It was my first time away from Lawson for 3 nights. I cried off an on all morning. You can bet I sent a special note with him in his backpack.

Sybil and I spent the next 4 days at home on the couch. We cuddled and napped. I did get more sleep in those 3 nights than I have in the past 4 years.

They returned home on Tuesday in time for a snowstorm on Wednesday. Lawson is now sick and we still haven’t left the house.

I did score the lucky day copy of Michelle Obama’s Becoming at the library. I haven’t started it yet, but plan to make it a priority this weekend. Everyone has been raving about it!

My first post for Momma Society went live earlier this week. I shared my tips on defining your style and cleaning out your closet. I’d love for you to check it out and let me know what you think!

HIGH POINT:

On our way to the airport on Tuesday, I made a detour to pick up Thai food for our dinner. We’ve had enough for several meals, which is perfect when the last thing I feel like doing is cooking.

LOW POINT:

This nasty cold. Enough said.

FIND OF THE WEEK:

This blue and white striped vase from Target is on my shopping list. My favorite peonies would look beautiful in it come early summer.
