Weekend Roundup: No. 227

Weekend

Happy Friday! It finally feels like summer in Colorado and I’m pretty happy about it. This week was our first of summer activities. Music class, swim lessons and tee ball. Tis the season!

Speaking of swim, Sybil was excited for her lessons to start on Tuesday. She bravely walked into the pool area and jumped in the area for her class. But when her instructor tried to take her into the larger pool, watch out! My girl screamed at the top of her lungs. We tried again yesterday and ultimately decided to downgrade to the parent/tot class for the rest of this session.

Yesterday we headed to the mall to pick up a glove for Lawson. Both Lawson and Sybil are in need of shorts so we stopped into Gap and found an extra 50% off sale prices. There were some items from last season, but I also found shorts for Lawson (khaki and seersucker). A quick note on sizing – I think Gap shorts run really big. Lawson is a tall four year old and wears 2T shorts. I also got Sybil this field jacket for fall that was marked down to $13.50 in store.

Over on Instagram, I’m giving away a copy of The Southern Side of Paradise. The entire Peachtree Bluff series has been a favorite of mine for years and this book didn’t disappoint. Comment on this post by tonight for a chance to win!

We’re kicking off the weekend with a trip to the splash pad today followed by ice cream cones. Tomorrow Lawson starts tee ball, Sybil and I are going to a Moms Demand Action event and then Lawson and I will cheer on a friend’s daughter at her gymnastics meet. Finally, Lawson and Jim have a father/son haircut date on Sunday. Oh, and I plan to fit in a run each day!

HIGH POINT:

A couple of really sweet, fun moments with Lawson and Sybil that make me excited for the next few months. Oh and listening to summer thunderstorms!

LOW POINT:

The kiddos and I were on our deck yesterday afternoon getting ready to grill when I spotted a large, five foot snake slithering along our house. I do not like snakes. It’s either parked under our deck or moved on to our neighbor’s house. Sorry Gina, but I really hope it’s the latter!

FIND OF THE WEEK:

Have you ever purchased anything from Boden? This shirt dress is calling my name and on sale in both the red and blue stripes.

WHAT I’M CURRENTLY READING:

I flew through The Matchmaker’s List this week. It’s a really quick read. My friend messaged me yesterday about The Unwinding of the Miracle. It’s now at the top of my library wish list.
