Weekend Roundup: No. 236

Weekend

Well this week was better than last week, which was better than the one before. So progress, right??!

I took advantage of my one on one time with Lawson. On Tuesday we went to the children’s museum. He led us wherever he wanted to go, which included the zip line over and over. Yesterday he had to come with me to a dermatology appointment for my annual skin check. Then we stopped at his favorite place for chocolate croissants and took a leisurely walk. Four is a wonderful age. I love our conversations.

Since Sybil still has an aversion to her car seat, yesterday afternoon we loaded up the double jogging stroller and ran/walked to the library. It was 4.5 miles round trip. The weather was beautiful and it felt great to be outside for a long period of time.

One of my favorite clean beauty brands is having a fall sale. Take 20% off and get free shipping at Kari Gran. My recommendations are the oil cleanser that I use daily (a bottle lasts me 6 months and is under $30 on sale), peppermint naked lip whip and radiant lip whip. I’m stocking up on them for teacher holiday gifts. (Kari Gran is not part of an affiliate program – I don’t earn any commission on sales, I just truly love these products.)

After some treats last weekend (the best cinnamon roll other than my mom’s!), I’m back on Whole30. I’ve lost 3-5 pounds by eliminating snacking and bread. It only took a few days for me to feel so much better. Full disclosure – I’ve had a non-Whole30 item every day, usually 5-10 chocolate chips with cashews. It’s enough for me to feel like I’m not restricting what I’m eating, but not so much that it adds a ton of calories. It’s a lifestyle I can do long-term.

I am in a bit of a Whole30 dinner rut. My girlfriend suggested No Crumbs Left (thanks Emily!), which I picked up from the library. All the recipes, especially the salads, look so delicious. And I’m not even a salad person!

You all know I love a good kids book. Mandy shared this list of toddler books and I immediately added a few to my cart.

Lawson has soccer tomorrow morning and then I’m shooting some fall outfits to share on Sunday. We are traveling or have visitors the next 3 weekends so it will be nice to catch up around the house. Hope you have a great weekend!

HIGH POINT:

This morning Sybil was in the midst of a meltdown at Target when I very sweet woman offered her a sticker. Less than 5 minutes later, Lawson’s teacher sent me two adorable photos from his classroom. The kindness of people can pick you up when you need it most.

LOW POINT:

We signed Lawson up for soccer this fall. After one practice, he’s decided he doesn’t like it. The same thing happened with baseball this summer. Maybe he’s just too young?? He enjoys it for the first 30 minutes, but quickly loses interest.

FIND OF THE WEEK:

I’ve seen this hooded animal print denim jacket for girl’s at Target a few times. I really try to be minimalist when it comes to clothing, but if it’s there next time I’m not sure I’ll be able to resist it for a third time!

CURRENTLY READING:

I finished Red, White and Royal Blue this week. I really liked it! Next up is Maybe You Should Talk to Someone.
