Weekend Roundup: No. 283

Everlane Trainer Sneakers

Last week we spent the week in Arizona with Jim’s family soaking up the sunshine before driving back to Colorado and embracing fall. The leaves are already turning and starting to fall off the trees. It’s so pretty (well, when the sky is clear and not smoky from the wildfires).

This week we worked on getting back into our weekly routine. The first day back after vacation is always hard. This time I prepared and gave myself two mottos for the day – Aim for Yes and Grace. Yes, the kids watched more TV than I would have liked and I had a to do list that I didn’t accomplish, but we all survived.

On Monday I went to the eye doctor for the first time in 5 years. My prescription changed slightly, but I can wait a couple of years before I need readers. Thank goodness. I do need a new pair of prescription sunglasses – my current pair are so scratched it’s hard to see clearly out of them. My current sunglasses are Warby Parker, but they no longer carry the same style. This style is pretty similar though.

In case you missed it, I celebrated 7 years of blogging on Wednesday. In some ways it feels it was a lifetime ago when I worked in a corporate environment and before we had kids. In other ways, how can it possibly be 7 years? I still love to share the things I love and don’t plan on stopping yet!

We are kicking off the weekend celebrating Lawson’s half birthday today. He requested oatmeal for breakfast, PB&J + carrots for lunch, and pizza for dinner. Of course he also requested chocolate cupcakes. Lately he always wants me to lay with him when he goes to bed. Last night I said yes and spent 45 minutes snuggling and talking. I love him.

Tomorrow I’m volunteering through Pod Save America’s Adopt a State program. If you live in Arizona, you might get a call from me. 😊 Other than that, I desperately need to go to the grocery store, Lawson has his last golf lesson on Saturday afternoon, and we have timed tickets for Rocky Mountain National Park on Sunday. It’s shaping up to be a good fall weekend.

HIGH POINT:

Probably a successful 13-hour drive where we stopped 9x for me to pee, still made great time and arrived back home safely.

LOW POINT:

None to report this week!
